The exploration of my particular research topic was initially due to the fact that I could personally resonate with nerves due to public speaking at University, and the discovery that I am not alone has been quite comforting. I went into this project expecting the majority of the answers I received, an overwhelming amount of nervous students and some who flourish in this environment.
The fact that BCM212 students were the only sample involved, and it is generally a more digitally focused course and contrasts a degree like business, this would have impacted the findings a fair amount. Taking students from a range of different degrees could drastically improve the data in order to draw stronger conclusions for all University experiences.
Aside from the type of sample students, the number of total respondents are most definitely on the lower side, with the first survey getting 36 respondents and the second only getting 11 respondents. The total number is a very small scope to make such strong conclusions, and it was difficult to not generalise too much without having the substantial data. If I could do something differently in regards to this, I would have had both survey questions combined into a single survey. The way the first survey was designed was to be quick to complete and provide a general snapshot to lead me to the next point in my research. The second survey was shorter, but allowed participants to write their own answers and give a more qualitative approach.
My time management skills were not as poor as I expected they would be as it is something I have always struggled with, but the delay of the first and then the second survey impacted the data and made me stray off the intended path of productivity. I would definitely improve in the future by getting an earlier start to avoid a domino effect of delays.
This subject has really shown the importance of research data and how it can be a catalyst for so many outcomes. Although my research has some flaws, it could contribute to such an array of fields, imagine what a qualified person could do in the future with this topic?
